In more than 30 countries, Netflix has reduced its subscription prices.

Netflix is struggling to determine the most effective strategy for retaining its user base. According to reports, the streaming service plans to lower monthly subscription fees in more than 30 countries around the world, with some discounts amounting to up to 50% of the current monthly rate. The Wall Street Journal has stated that the reduced subscription fees will be implemented in a variety of countries including Yemen, Jordan, Libya, Iran, Croatia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Venezuela, Kenya, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. While the discount amounts will vary across different markets, some reductions are reported to be as much as half the current monthly subscription cost. Netflix is currently in the process of determining a strategy to retain its user base. The timing of the decision is noteworthy, as in the spring of 2022, Netflix reported a loss of 200,000 users during Q1, while industry analysts had anticipated a gain of 2.5 million users. However, the Q3 earnings report indicated that Netflix had managed to recover from this setback, as the company announced a growth of 2.4 million subscribers.
