Naseeruddin Shah is set to play Emperor Akbar’s role in his upcoming television series ‘Taj-Divided By Blood’ and the announcement about its release has been made. A few weeks ago, the veteran actor spoke about the Mughal Dynasty and further discussed the contributions that the Mughal rulers had made in building this nation.
Furthermore, the actor said that the Mughal rulers didn’t “come to India to loot the country” and the people who were here to loot were Babar’s great grandfather and Nader Shah. He also added that the rulers of the Mughal Dynasty came here to “build their homes and they did the same”. Naseruddin Shah also said that the Mughals shouldn’t be ‘villainized’ as not everything that they did during their rule was wrong and there were a lot of things which contributed to the betterment of the country. He took a dig at the people who say that Mughal Dynasty were here to loot as he said that the nation shouldn’t use the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort and should “knock those monuments out”. He also asked that if Mughal rulers were not good then why do the people of India “consider the Red Fort as a sacred place” and the Prime Minister hoists a flag at the place on Independence Day. Shah said that the Mughal should neither be ‘glorified nor they should be villainized’. He also added that everyone should respect the contribution done by the Mughal rulers to the country. The upcoming series Taj-Divided by blood stars Dharmendra, Nasiruddin Shah and Ashim Gulati.
